World Netball is proud to launch a new series of seven videos to support the development of umpires and umpire coaches. The creation of the videos has been led by an experienced group of representatives consisting of World Netball Officials and members from our Rules Advisory Panel and Coaching Advisory Panel.

The video scenarios will cover the following areas:

  1. Footwork – pivot
  2. Advantage
  3. Contact – Holding and Pushing
  4. Contact – Causing Contact
  5. Contact – Interference
  6. Playing the Ball
  7. Interference of the Shot

This Guide looks at the basic rules of netball and is designed to help new umpires, including parents, players and coaches with the basics of umpiring netball.

The NNZ Zone Theory Exam is the next step for umpires who hold a Centre Umpire Award and are looking to attain their Zone Umpire Award.

Exams cost $55 and payment details will be sent to applicants to pay online after registrations have closed.

Please note important information from the Community Umpiring Guidelines:

  • Registrations must be completed by 5pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Candidates must sit their exam without help from another person unless use of a reader-writer or other special conditions have been authorised.

Student umpire exam candidates, please DO NOT use your school email address to register for Sport Tutor, as this will not be accessible after you have left that school.  Please use your personal email address instead.  All umpire exam candidates should also enter Netball Manurewa, rather than their school or club, so that they can be approved by the Zone.
