2023 NETBALL REVITALISATION PROGRAMME
In April 2022, Netball Manurewa (NM) surveyed all Manurewa local schools, with a view to understanding the “barriers” that schools currently experience, which may contribute to entering teams at NM, in season. NM has worked hard to try to alleviate or reduce these barriers, and as a result, the new NM “Netball Revitalisation programme 2023” has been created.
The programme will involve a 4-Tiered approach:
- Player development
- Umpire development
- Coach development
- Netball Leaders development
The programme delivery will provide experienced and qualified netball deliverers, to work with School Students in school settings (at a day/time which suits schools best) and at the NM Community & Events Centre (Netball Leaders development programme for Y9+ youth).
The “Netball Revitalisation programme 2023” will provide participating schools with:
- sports equipment (netballs, ball bag, whistles, umpire/coach resources)
- increased knowledge of netball and netball qualifications, through player, coach, umpire development in school delivery
- encourage more rangatahi & youth to be more involved in sport and learn ‘transferrable skills’ to add to their CV and build self confidence, self esteem & knowledge. Assisting Y9+ students with achievement of NCEA credits relating to Sport Officiating.
- providing a FREE 6 week netball competition at the conclusion of the programme delivery
15 local schools and 5 clubs will be the recipients of the new programme. We’re excited to deliver this programme to in 2023. If your school or club is interested in participating in this programme please contact the office before 20th August.
Funding is pivotal to our ability to deliver this programme, we are hopeful our funding application is approved in the near future.
